Family services' programs

Adoption
Provides homestudy evaluations, placement and supervision and finalization services for families adopting young children domestically and from other countries, children with special needs, and for blended and co-parenting families. The team also provides counseling and case management support service for biological parents and (when appropriate) assistance with termination of parental rights. The team also assists adult adoptees in their search for their biological parent(s).

Counseling
Provides individual, couple, family and group psychotherapy for those experiencing personal/emotional, interpersonal relationship, family/parenting, and substance abuse problems. State licensed, outpatient mental health and substance abuse services are provided in offices in Bristol, Guilford, Hamden, Meriden, New Britain, North Branford and Plymouth.

Empowering People for Success Program (EPS)
Assists families who are leaving (or have left) the welfare rolls. Outreach and case management services are provided under the auspices of the Connecticut Council of Family Service Agencies to locate and assist the people who are referred by the Department of Labor and the Department of Social Services. The team members work non-traditional hours. They assess the consumer’s situation, identify barriers to employment, help develop action plans and budgets, and refer to specific services and additional assistance.

Community Life Skills & Community Housing Assistance(CLS & CHAP)
Delivers education, training, and case management to young people ages 16 to 21 years. Group skills training embraces topics such as reasoned decision making, goal setting, consumer awareness, budgeting, employment, housing and educational planning. Staff provide on-site guidance and supervision to youths occupying their first apartments and, when needed, advocate on their behalf.

Young Parents’ Program (YPP)
Provides case management and counseling services, parenting and life skills training for pregnant and parenting adolescents.
